We’ve been serving simple pleasures since winter 2019.

Thursday - Monday, 4pm until late.

Every Easter & Christmas we take a week or so off. Outside of this we’re pretty consistent.

We don’t have a normal kitchen facility, so our menu is limited. That said, it’s easy to order a quick snack or have a full meal if you order most of the menu. A classic menu at Sonny has oysters, a toast dish, pasta, cheese. It changes based on seasonality of our local producers being fruitful or available. It also changes based on the skills and love of the chef working. Shout out to some of our favourites like Tas Oyster Co, Tongola Farm, many vegetable growers, Kenyak Chocolate. We always have good recommendations for great restaurants to book, like Ogee!

We’re ideal for pescatarians. Vegetarians also. We’ll always have a few snacks for coeliacs or vegans, but not a full menu. Kitchen is open from 4pm, we normally take last food orders at 9.30pm. If you’re in late after the kitchen is closed, we could organise some cheese for you.

They’re the first pair of Pitt & Giblin SuperWax Minis to be showcased in a venue. The Pitt & Giblin guys set them up as an unofficial showroom and we have a blast with them. Recently they’ve open up their own speaker showroom up the road from us. It’s called Ours - check it out.

We operate as walk ins only, because of the size and limitations of the food offering. 

We have about twenty stools at Sonny, ten at the bar, ten on a few other small tables. Being small, it’s easy to fill up. As walk ins only, we’re grateful for anyone who spends time waiting for us. It can be hard to predict wait times, and we will do our best to check in and let you know how the room is travelling.

Mystery wine is essentially a wine we choose for you! Think of it as a separate wine list. We’ll listen for cues, keep things like the menu & weather in mind to find you something we think you’ll love. If the wine is more than twenty dollars a glass we’ll check that’s okay.

We’ve stopped doing regular gift vouchers due to our walk in only policy. We do special occasion gift packs at Christmas time.

The space doesn’t lend itself to working well for many functions. Always happy to chat and recommend other venues but due to the walk in only policy and the size, we haven’t had many over the years.

Yes, it’s a fun record collection to share. Expect lots of flavours of genres, half albums, with pauses while we flip or change the mood. Suggestions are always welcome. Can’t wait for you to listen.
